Job summary

UPMC Mercy is seeking a Floor & Project Technician to join our team. You will maintain floor areas by stripping/refinishing hard surfaces and shampooing carpeted areas. This full-time role operates on 2nd shift, with rotating weekend/holiday coverage.

Responsibilities include cleaning after spills, inspecting areas, maintaining equipment, and complying with hospital policies. Experience with housekeeping and ability to follow instructions are required.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED or 1 year of EVS experience
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions to complete housekeeping duties
• Ability to use all housekeeping equipment

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize after emergency spill clean-up requests
• Strip/refinish floors and shampoo carpeted areas
• Inspect areas and report problems to supervisor
• Maintain and report on equipment; keep it clean and in good repair
• Follow hospital/Department policies and procedures; adhere to safety regulations
• Rotate weekend and holiday coverage as needed

Job description

UPMC Mercy is seeking a Floor & Project Technician to join our team!

In this role, you will maintain all types of floor areas through the process of stripping/refinishing hard surface floors and shampooing carpeted areas. This is a full-time role that will work 2nd shift - hours being 2 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. or 2:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. The schedule does require rotating weekend and holiday coverage as well.

Responsibilities:

• Cleans and sanitizes after emergency spill clean-up requests.
• Change Shampoo to Extracts.
• Inspect and ensure that all assigned areas are properly cleaned and in good repair, reporting all problems to the supervisor.
• Shampoo assigned carpeted areas.
• Maintain all assigned equipment; keep equipment clean and in good repair, report all problems and suggestions to the supervisor.
• Comply with all Hospital/Department policies and procedures.
• Follow all safety and sanitation regulations, reporting problems to the shift supervisor.
• Remove all soil, wax, and sealer from assigned hard-surface floors.
• Uses chemicals and solutions per department Tech Manual.

• HS Diploma/GED OR 1 YR previous job experience required in lieu of HS Diploma/GED or successful completion of the 5-week EVS training program
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions in order to successfully complete housekeeping duties.
• Ability to use all housekeeping equipment.
• May in the course of duties be in rooms where medications are stored. No contact with medications is allowed.
