Job summary

Hickory Recovery is seeking a licensed LPN or RN to provide care for adults in a behavioral health and addiction treatment setting. The role involves comprehensive nursing assessments, medication administration, and coordination of ongoing health plans.

Under the supervision of the Director of Nursing, you will conduct intake assessments, monitor medical needs, and perform essential tests while maintaining confidentiality and high ethical standards.

Qualifications

• Licensed practical nurse (LPN) or registered nurse (RN) with a valid license.
• Prior hospital and behavioral health experience preferred.
• BLS certification obtained within 1 month before hire.
• Maintain client confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.

Responsibilities

• Perform admission nursing assessments and ongoing medical evaluations.
• Conduct intake assessments and monitor medical needs.
• Manage CIWA and COWS protocols and pain assessment.
• Perform urinalysis, pregnancy screens, and glucose monitoring.
• Administer TB and COVID-19 tests; document thoroughly.
• Safely administer medications and conduct narcotics counts.

Job Type: Full - Time

Shift Schedule: 11:00pm - 7:30am

About the Role:

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)/ Registered Nurse (RN) will be responsible for the healthcare of female and/or male clients suffering from addictions and behavioral health issues.

Under the immediate supervision of the Director of Nursing, the LPN will perform comprehensive physical health assessments on all intakes and formulate a plan of care that includes physician orders, medications, education, and treatments.

Job Qualifications:

• Valid LPN or RN completed from an accredited school of Nursing.
• Prior experience as an LPN or RN preferably with hospital and behavioral health experience
• Certified BLS provider obtained within 1 month prior to hire.
• Ability to maintain strict client confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
• Ability to work as a member of a team.

Key Responsibilities:

Clinical Assessments & Monitoring

• Performs Nursing Assessment on admission
• Performs intake assessments
• Evaluates clients on an ongoing basis to ensure medical needs are met
• Performs CIWA and COWS appropriately
• Performs pain assessment and is knowledgeable about pain management
• Performs point-of-care urinalysis and pregnancy screens
• Performs glucose monitoring
• Administers two-step Tuberculin PPD test
• Performs COVID-19 testing

Medication Management & Safety

• Understands administration of high-risk medications
• Uses two identifiers when administering medications
• Documents medication administration
• Receives medications from pharmacy and stores appropriately
• Conducts narcotics count and maintain emergency drug kit
• Reports medication errors or "near misses" to Director of Nursing

Documentation & Communication

• Utilizes "Read Back" when taking verbal orders
• Assessing, responding, and documenting suicide risks
• Follows admission and discharge procedures

Infection Control & Safety Practices

• Performs appropriate hand hygiene throughout the shift
• Follows workplace injury procedures
• Reports safety hazards to supervisor and/or Executive Director

Compliance, Professional Standards & Quality Improvement

• Maintains a current nursing license (LPN/RN)
