Paul’s Ace Hardware in Fountain Hills, AZ seeks a full-time retail leader focused on delivering exceptional customer service and driving sales. The role supports store operations, promotions, and teamwork across departments to ensure a clean, welcoming shopping environment.

You will participate in staff meetings, training, and new procedures, with opportunities for advancement in a family-owned, long-standing business that values integrity and growth.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
• Experience in a retail environment is beneficial.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.
• Ability to perform basic math concepts (percentages, fractions) is required.
• Ability to read instructions, policies, and forms, either handwritten or on computer.

Responsibilities

• Provide strong, positive customer service to shoppers.
• Assist in generating sales while maintaining store, warehouse, and area cleanliness.
• Participate in management staff meetings and support special projects or new procedures.
• Uphold retail disciplines: fronting, facing, and accuracy with products.
• Engage in ongoing education to maintain product knowledge and cross-training opportunities.
• Handle cash, process credit/debit cards, and coupons accurately.
• Be available to work days, evenings, weekends and holidays.
• May assist with lifting 10–50 lbs as needed.

Pay Range:

Minimum starting wage $15.15/hour, higher dependent on experience relating to this position.

Expectations and Responsibilities include, not limited to:

• Strong, positive customer service
• Participate in generating sales including maintaining general cleanliness of store, warehouse, and assigned areas
• Participate in management staff meetings, assist with special projects or programs, and implementing new procedures
• Upholding the retail disciplines of fronting, facing and flossing
• Participate in continuing education and training to maintain knowledge of products and services
• Accountable for cash handling, processing credit/debit cards, coupons, etc.
• Must be able to work days, evenings, weekends and holidays
• May be required to lift at least 10 lbs. up to 25 lbs. and possibly 50 lbs.

Qualifications:

• Supervisory experience of at least one year, in a retail environment preferred
• Customer service experience preferred
• Strong verbal and written communication
• Ability to perform and understand basic mathematical concepts such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, and fractions
• Ability to read instructions, policies, procedures, and complete forms either in writing or using a computer
• High school diploma or equivalent, preferred

Full-time status required; 30 or more total hours worked per week

Paul E. Dauwalder established his first hardware store in 1956 at the Northwest corner of Thomas and Scottsdale Roads, in what was then downtown Scottsdale Arizona. With a sales floor of approximately 1800 sq. ft. and a passion for taking care of customers, the company grew quickly.
