Qualifications

• One year of custodial work experience.
• Ability to communicate effectively and respond to questions and requests from customers and others.
• Ability to read and follow written instructions on labels for proper and safe use of chemicals, supplies and equipment.
• Ability to learn to use specialized departmental equipment including scrubbers and buffers.
• Effective written communication skills using appropriate business English.
• Computer literacy to use business software and the Internet, and enter/retrieve data.
• Human relations skills to build effective working relationships.
• Demonstrated customer service, problem solving and common sense skills.
• Ability to maneuver in and around the worksite, stand and walk, bend, kneel, reach, stoop, lift, push/pull, grasp objects, and climb ladders or step stools.
• Valid Driver's License may be required depending on local, state, and/or contract requirements.

Responsibilities

• Schedule required or requested floor tasks with the supervisor or lead.
• Inspect and prepare equipment and chemicals for scheduled procedures.
• Clean and restore tile, carpet, and other flooring surfaces.
• Perform stripping, waxing, scrubbing, buffing, carpet cleaning, and other restorative tasks.
• Complete floor tasks and conduct a quality review of the project.
• Properly secure all equipment after completing tasks.
• Request necessary repairs and install local out tags when required.
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
