Job summary

Apple Rehab Coccomo in Meriden, CT, seeks a floor maintenance worker to uphold a clean, safe environment for residents and staff. You will perform floor care tasks, transport supplies, and assist in maintaining building systems under supervision.

Experience in hospitals or long-term care is preferred; applicants should be able to operate floor care equipment and work as part of a team with a positive attitude toward residents and peers.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a hospital or long-term care facility preferred.
• Ability to perform and operate floor care equipment and techniques.
• Demonstrates cooperation in assisting others and ability to work as a team.
• Patience, tact, enthusiasm and a positive attitude toward residents and their support networks.
• Ability to read and understand labels and safety instructions and other department policies and procedures in English.
• Ability to visually assess all aspects of facility.
• Ability to distinguish smells and temperatures and to hear and respond to pages.
• Ability to walk, reach, bend, lift, grasp, pull, stretch, stoop, climb, twist, work in tight quarters or in high places and have gross motor coordination, balance and fine hand coordination to operate machinery and tools.
• Ability to lift and move heavy items weighing approximately 50-75 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Under supervision performs all tasks involved with a complete floor maintenance program, transports supplies and materials and assists in general maintenance services.
• Assists in maintenance and repair of the physical plant, grounds, equipment and building systems.
• Provides a clean, orderly and safe environment for facility residents and staff.
