Job summary

Holy Cross Health in Silver Spring, MD, seeks a Floor Care Technician for the Day shift to perform floor care and housekeeping duties in the Environmental Services Department.

Responsibilities include following cleaning techniques, ensuring safe, timely service for patients and staff, and accepting additional assignments. Some evenings/weekends may be directed by supervisors and nursing staff when needed.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to read and comprehend instructions in writing and orally.
• Ability to read and write information in English regarding Duty list, Instructional information, and policies and procedures.
• Ability to use alphanumeric pager and telephone.
• Customer service core competencies for dealing with patients, families, visitors, and staff.
• Able to work independently.
• Experience as housekeeper or floor tech in healthcare/hospital setting preferred.
• Equipment: good physical condition and ability to use hand and power tools.

Shift: Day shift - 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. with every other weekend rotation

Location: Holy Cross Hospital, Silver Spring, MD

Position Purpose

• The Floor Care Technician performs floor care and housekeeping duties for the hospital’s Environmental Services Department.

As a “Floor Care Technician” you will:

• Floor Care Technician is guided by advanced knowledge of cleaning techniques and procedures, operation and use of department equipment and supplies, for housekeeping and floor care.
• Responsible for the timely, courteous, and competent services rendered in a safe manner for patients, visitors, and hospital staff.
• Accepts additional assignments related to support functions as is needed to provide service excellence to patients, visitors, and hospital staff.
• On evenings and weekends could also receive direction from the Supervisor as assigned by the Assistant Director of Environmental Services.
• May also be assigned at times to receive guidance and instruction from the Nursing Department.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Education: High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to read and comprehend instructions in writing and orally.
• Ability to read and write information in English regarding Duty list, Instructional information, and policies and procedures.
• Ability to use alphanumeric pager and telephone.
• Customer service core competencies for ability to deal directly with patients, their families, visitors, and hospital staff.
• Able to work independently.
• On-the job experience as a housekeeper and floor tech at Holy Cross Hospital or a similar sized Healthcare Institution, Hotel, or Commercial cleaning required.
• Equipment:Good physical condition and a general ability to work with hand and power tools

Pay Range: $17.65 - $22.85

Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
