Job summary

Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring, MD, part of Trinity Health, seeks an Environmental Care Technician for the Evening shift. You will perform housekeeping duties and support the Environmental Services Department.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, and prior cleaning experience is preferred. Ability to read/write English and use pagers/phones is essential for daily operations, with on-site parking provided.

Qualifications

• Knowledge: Ability to read and comprehend instructions.
• Skills: Ability to read and write information in English on duty lists, instructions, and policies.

Responsibilities

• Perform housekeeping duties for the hospital’s Environmental Services Department.
• Work with the Assistant Director or Housekeeping Supervisor on a regular basis.
• Apply basic cleaning techniques and operate department equipment safely.
• Provide timely, courteous, and competent service to patients, visitors, and staff.
• Accept additional assignments to support services and patient care.

Shift: Evening - 3:00 pm – 11:30 pm (with every other weekend rotation)

Location: Holy Cross Hospital, Silver Spring, MD

Position Purpose

• The Environmental Care Technician performs housekeeping duties for the hospital’s Environmental Services Department.

As an “Environmental Care Technician” you will:

• Be assigned to work with Assistant Director of Environmental Services or the Housekeeping Supervisor on a regular basis.
• Environmental Care Technician is guided by basic knowledge of cleaning techniques and procedures, operation and use of department equipment and supplies.
• Responsible for the timely, courteous, and competent services rendered in a safe manner for patients, visitors, and hospital staff.
• Accepts additional assignments related to support functions as is needed to provide service excellence to patients, visitors, and hospital staff.
• On evenings and weekends could also receive direction from the Supervisor as assigned by the Assistant Director of Environmental Services.
• Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

• Education: High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Experience: Some on-the job experience as a housekeeper in Healthcare, Hotel, or Commercial cleaning preferred.
• Knowledge: Ability to read and comprehend instructions in writing and orally.
• Skills: Ability to read and write information in English regarding Duty list, Instructional information, and policies and procedures.
• Ability to use alphanumeric pager and telephone.
• Able to work independently.

Pay Range: $18.00 - $21.42

Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
