Job summary

PRIDE Industries in California is hiring a Floor/Utility Technician to clean and restore tile, carpet and other flooring surfaces. Under general supervision, you will perform stripping, waxing, scrubbing and buffing for assigned areas, using floor care equipment safely.

The role requires one year of custodial work, the ability to read labels and follow safety procedures, and basic computer literacy to enter data. This is a non-exempt, onsite position with no direct reports.

Qualifications

• One year of custodial work experience.
• Ability to communicate effectively and respond to questions and requests from customers and others.
• Ability to read and follow written instructions on labels for proper and safe use of chemicals, supplies and equipment.
• Ability to learn to use specialized departmental equipment including that used in custodial services such as scrubbers and buffers.
• Effective written communication skills using appropriate business English.
• Computer literacy to use business software, the Internet, enter data/retrieve data.
• Human relations skills to build effective working relationships.
• Demonstrated customer service, problem solving and common sense skills.

Responsibilities

• Schedule required or requested floor tasks with supervisor or lead.
• Inspect and prepare necessary equipment and chemicals required for scheduled procedures.
• Complete necessary floor tasks, followed by a quality review of project.
• Properly secure all equipment at completion of tasks.
• Request necessary repairs, install local out tag when required.
• Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.
