Job summary

BLOX is seeking an EHS Manager to own the day-to-day manufacturing EHS program on the campus in Bessemer, AL, reporting to the VP of Environmental, Health, Safety & Sustainability. Lead the EHS team, close incidents with root causes, and sustain program discipline amidst production pressure.

You will oversee investigations, training, and core safety programs, while coordinating with Operations, Facilities, and Warehousing to deploy EHS standards across the site.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Health, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a closely related field.
• 7+ years of progressive EHS experience in heavy manufacturing, fabrication, or industrial construction, including at least 2 years supervising EHS staff.
• Hands-on experience leading incident investigations and root-cause analysis in-house, including serious injuries.
• Working command of OSHA 1910 with practical exposure to 1926, applied in a mixed manufacturing and construction environment.
• Experience building and delivering training programs internally, including hands-on equipment qualification, without relying on outside vendors.
• Working knowledge of industrial hygiene fundamentals: exposure assessment, sampling logistics, and interpretation of results into controls.
• Demonstrated ability to hold the line with operations leadership under production pressure without burning relationships.
• Strong documentation habits — if it's not written down and retrievable, it didn't happen.

Responsibilities

• Run daily EHS operations across the manufacturing campus, including inspections and hazard correction.
• Lead in-house investigations for injuries, near misses, and property damage with root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Own the training system end to end: matrix, delivery, competency verification, and records retrievable on demand.
• Maintain and enforce core safety programs (LOTO, electrical safety, fall protection, machine guarding, etc.).
• Run the in-house industrial hygiene program: exposure characterization, monitoring, sampling coordination, and surveillance scheduling.
• Manage corrective-action tracker with owners and due dates, reporting weekly to VP and site leadership.
• Oversee injury response, workers' compensation coordination, and OSHA 1904 recordkeeping through EHS Supervisor.
• Develop the EHS Supervisor and Lead Inspector, aligning with Field Construction EHS and Digital Fab teams.
• Support safety-committee leadership and supervisor accountability; ensure stop-work authority is used and acted on.
• Partner with Operations, Facilities Maintenance, and Warehousing to implement EHS programs and training.
• Manage contractor and temporary-workforce safety requirements and orientation on site.
