Job summary

Job description

Job Summary

Performs assembly of wind turbine power transmissions and their subassemblies. Works from blueprints, parts lists and assembly cards, using parts washers, freezers, ovens, cranes, fork trucks, hand and power tools. Shims and final assembles gear units. Works independently or as part of a team, overseeing lower grade assemblers, and may perform other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Apply general shop safety training.
• Operate shop computers (EATRC, Work Standards).
• Use parts washer.
• Operate crane and ensure safety compliance.
• Proper use of chains, shackles, and straps.
• Operate ovens and induction heaters.
• Operate hydraulic torque wrench, including torque specifications.
• Use proper loctite (sealants).
• Operate measuring equipment (micrometers, veneers).
• Apply knowledge of bearings.
• Basic knowledge of Lean and SPS.

Qualifications & Experience

• 0-2 years prior experience in wind turbine assembly (lathe experience helpful but not required).
• Equivalent combination of formal education, training, and experience as possessed by an experienced high school graduate.
