Job summary

The County of Riverside Flood Control District is seeking an Assistant Engineer in Riverside, California. You will support planning, design, construction, and operation of flood control facilities, including stormwater systems and levees, across the county.

Responsibilities include engineering studies, plan reviews, cost estimates, and field inspections, with emphasis on hydrology, hydraulics, and structural considerations. A bachelor’s degree and an EIT are required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering or bioresource and agricultural engineering.
  • Possession of a valid Engineer-in-Training certificate may substitute for the degree.
  • At least one year of professional civil engineering experience in relevant areas.
  • Valid California driver's license required for site visits.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in design of roads, hydraulics and structures; prepare plans and estimates.
  • Review and supervise drafting, field data collection and plan checks.
  • Perform engineering analyses and prepare reports for public works projects.
  • Inspect projects under construction and assist permit applicants.
