The MSI Flood Business Segment Leader will manage and oversee all aspects of MSI’s Residential Flood business including product development, pricing, underwriting, risk management, revenue, marketing, and capacity. This individual will report directly into the President, Personal Lines, and be responsible for developing MSI’s go-to-market strategy for Residential Flood business, working alongside the Personal Lines Distribution, Product, Underwriting, and Technology teams to build and manage a variety of programs.

Responsibilities

• Lead MSI Residential Flood Insurance Business, growing nascent programs to a long-term goal of $100M in force premium.
• Lead development of reinsurance narrative, underwriting guidelines, product rules, rates, and forms. Be the face of the program to external capacity providers, third-party partners + vendors, and internal stakeholders.
• Develop distribution and product go-to-market strategies, gleaning insights from competitors in the space.
• Partner cross-functionally to gain alignment, ensure appropriate focus and resourcing, and provide ongoing mentorship to underwriters and product managers to manage day-to-day operations.
• Own relationships with third-party program providers and maintain profitability of those books.
• Monitor Flood portfolio constantly, partnering with product and actuarial teams to develop KPIs and track program parameters. Ensure continuous learning from all available claims, litigation, and other data sources.
• Lead innovation by bringing unique coverages and differentiators to win against competitors.
• Develop and leverage agent relationships to drive revenue growth in partnership with Distribution Leadership. Partner with marketing to ensure messaging and approach are amplified externally.
• Set a behavioral example for building relationships with MSI cross-functional teams, creating alignment, and championing successes and opportunities.

Experience

• Minimum 15 years’ experience in Flood Insurance.
• Minimum 10 years’ experience in Flood Insurance as a product manager/developer or lead underwriter at a Carrier or MGA/MGU.
• Experience in private and public flood markets.
• Experience building Flood Programs and obtaining reinsurance capacity preferred.
• Experience with US Flood is required.
• Technical education in Flood science and/or MBA is preferred.
