Job summary

The Fuel Lifecycle Lead will build and manage the nuclear fuel program for Nautilus, BlueCore’s floating reactor, from procurement through final disposition. Within the Certification Department, this role blends project management, licensing support, and on‑site operations planning, handling contracts, fuel handling procedures, and regulatory submittals for each step.

Beyond Nautilus, you will lay groundwork for fleet‑wide fuel receiving, handling, storage, and disposal at commercial ports.

Qualifications

• Deep experience in nuclear fuel management or fuel cycle project management.
• Working knowledge of PWR fuel design, core loading, and refueling outage planning.
• Familiarity with 10 CFR Part 50/52/53, Part 70, Part 71, Part 72 and FSAR.
• Strong project management with multiple vendors, outages, and regulatory submittals.
• Excellent technical writing for regulatory-grade safety documents.
• Willingness to travel to vendor facilities, NRC HQ, INL and ports.

Responsibilities

• Own the fuel handling program from receipt through disposition.
• Develop fuel handling procedures and coordinate with reactor engineering on core design and reload analysis.
• Author fuel-related sections of safety basis and NRC license applications.
• Lead licensing for fuel transportation and route approvals with DOT, USCG, and NRC.
• Plan and execute refueling outages with cross-functional teams.
• Develop spent fuel management strategy and interim storage considerations.
• Coordinate across NRC, DOE, USCG, ABS, DOT, and port authorities.
• Build relationships with port authorities and fuel service providers.
• Embed fuel handling requirements into plant design and operating procedures.
• Travel to facilities and regulatory sites for coordination.
