Job summary

Weil Foot & Ankle Institute seeks a Medical Assistant to work alongside the physician, perform basic vital signs, prepare rooms, verify patient information, assist with in-office procedures, and schedule follow-ups. The role includes cross-training to cover front desk duties as needed.

The position is based at the Harbour View office with local travel as required within the geographic region. A Medical Assistant certification is preferred, with or without additional education.

Qualifications

  • Medical Assistant certification preferred with 2 years in a healthcare setting.
  • High school diploma or GED required; further education a plus.
  • Strong critical thinking and decisive judgment; ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and basic computer skills.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills to maintain patient records.

Responsibilities

  • Interview patients to collect medical history and update records.
  • Measure vital signs and prepare examination rooms.
  • Sterilize instruments and prepare in-office procedure trays.
  • Schedule patient appointments and assist with front desk duties as needed.
  • Take X-rays and support physician with patient care activities.
  • Maintain inventory and order medical supplies.

LOCATION:

This position is primarily based at our Harbour View office. Occasional local travel to additional sites within your assigned geographic region may also be required.

Practice Operations Manager

POSITION SUMMARY

We are looking for a Medical Assistant to work alongside the physician and assist with patient care. This includes taking basic vital signs, preparing the room, verifying patient information, assisting with in-office procedures, and scheduling the patient’s next appointment. The Medical Assistant will also help manage the patient's schedule and assist with office duties.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Interview patients to gather medical history and update medical records
  • Gather basic vital signs, including temperature, blood pressure, height, weight, and pulse
  • Prepare treatment rooms and patients for exam
  • Sterilize instruments and set up in-office procedure trays
  • Manage medical supplies and materials and work with their operational leader to order necessary inventory
  • Take x-rays
  • Medical Assistants will be cross trained to be able to cover front desk activities when needed
  • Other duties are to support the physician and team with patient care activities.
REQUIREMENTS
QUALIFICATIONS / EDUCATION / CRITICAL SKILLS
  • Medical Assistant certification with 2 years in a healthcare position preferred.
  • High school diploma or GED required, higher or continuing education a plus.
  • Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work unsupervised or with minimal supervision
  • Strong computer skills and use of Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of basic medical procedures such as dressing a wound
  • Strong communication skills and ability to actively listen
  • Strong organizational and clerical skills to maintain patient files and perform office duties
  • Customer services skills
  • Knowledge of safety and sanitation procedures
SCHEDULING:

A typical schedule for this Medical Assistant is Monday to Friday

TRAVEL:

Local travel may be required to locations within your assigned geographic region. This role will be assigned to cover a geographic area; however, you may be required to occasionally travel outside of your assigned regional area to support the other regional coverage needs of the organization. The role must have reliable transportation and be able to travel from site to site, as assigned.
