About the Position
The Housekeeper (Floater) is responsible for completing assigned housekeeping and laundry tasks on campus. They will receive daily and flex assignments within the essential duties and responsibilities for housekeeping and laundry areas. They are expected to maintain a clean and sanitary environment for elders, staff, and visitors at Londonderry Village, and ensure that their assigned areas are kept orderly and free of safety hazards.
Shift:Monday through Friday from 8am to 4pm (1 weekend per month, rotating holidays)
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Obtain necessary equipment and supplies before proceeding to assigned work area.
- Use housekeeping and laundry equipment appropriate for the task and notify supervisor of equipment needing repair.
- Practice standard infection control procedures and wear personal protective equipment when needed.
- Follow all established safety rules and procedures and report any safety concern/hazard to supervisor.
- Returns unused supplies to appropriate storage area at the end of each shift.
- Keep carts, closets, and equipment clean, neat, and orderly at all times. Ensure housekeeping cart is locked if unattended.
- Follows established procedures and uses correct chemicals and equipment for each task.
- Maintain equipment in proper working order and perform basic preventive care as necessary.
- Use the WorxHub software for billing, scheduling, and quality reporting.
- Clean elder rooms, baths, offices, halls, and other areas.
- Assist with moving furniture for cleaning.
- Wash beds and mattresses and remake beds on scheduled days and as requested.
- Perform basic floor care by vacuuming, dust mopping, and damp mopping floors in rooms, corridors, entrances, stairwells, and other areas as assigned.
- Collect trash and recycling from all areas within the facility and transport to designated areas.
- Dust high vents, cabinets, and other furnishings.
- Use extractor for cleaning carpets and chairs as necessary.
- Gather soiled linens and transport to laundry following infection control procedures including wearing appropriate gloves.
- Sort soiled linen by fabric type and color.
- Weigh each load to ensure proper weight before loading into washer.
- Load washer and select the correct formula according to the classification of the load for proper chemical mixture and washer cycle. Initiate wash cycle.
- Verify chemicals are being injected into washing machines. Monitors container levels and are replaced as needed.
- Unload washer upon cycle completion and transports load to dryers. Place wet linens in dryer and select appropriate temperature and time settings. Initiate drying cycle.
- Fold dry linen and load delivery carts with proper type and appropriate number of linens.
- Deliver clean linen and elder personal laundry to respective locations at established time.
- Labels residents personal clothing as needed.
- Clean dryer lint traps and records on daily log.
- Washes hands before and after handling linen.
- Inspects linens and personal laundry for quality issues such as missing buttons, stains, and tears.
- Removes facility linen from rotation if not appropriate for continued use.
- Records load classifications, poundage, and load type on daily washer reports.
- Monitors inventory of washing machine chemicals and notifies supervisor if inventory is low.
- Use the WorxHub for billing, scheduling, and quality reporting.
- Use Paycom to clock in/out, submit time off requests, and approve your timecard.
- Use OnShift to monitor work schedule.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Ability to complete the essential functions of the position.
- Must follow all universal precautions procedures, including use of personal protective equipment, due to high potential for exposure to bloodborne pathogens.
