Job summary

Sheppard Pratt seeks a Floating Driver to operate the Health System van or car, transporting patients across the metropolitan area and supporting occasional deliveries. You will maintain driving records and report unusual patient behavior to your supervisor.

The role requires adherence to health system policies and safe operation of vehicles. Applicants must have a Maryland driver’s license, a high school diploma or GED, and 1–3 months of on-the-job hospital experience.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid Maryland driver's license and be eligible for a Sheppard Pratt driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Experience transporting patients or clients is preferred and a background in patient care may be beneficial.
• Knowledge of health system policies, safety procedures and emergency transport protocols is required.

Responsibilities

• Drive Health System van/auto to transport patients, clients and occasional deliveries across the metro area.
• Maintain a record of driving assignments.
• Observe and report significant or unusual patient behavior to supervisor.
• Perform routine vehicle maintenance and coordinate repairs with local garages as needed.
