Job summary

Suffolk Credit Union is seeking a Floating Assistant Branch Manager to cover branch management duties across the Eastern Region (Miller Place, Sayville, East Port, Riverhead). You will supervise staff, manage daily operations, and support member services while ensuring compliance and teamwork.

The role requires supervisory experience in a financial institution, knowledge of lending, and the ability to coordinate with People Operations.

Qualifications

• Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma or equivalency.
• Notary license required within three (3) months of hire.
• NMLS-ID (Mortgage Loan Originator) required and will be provided at time of hire if not already acquired.
• Bilingual preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists in overseeing branch employees and manages floating staff, including organizing, scheduling, coaching, and hiring or terminating staff in coordination with People Operations and management.
• Manages scheduling, time cards, and training for branch staff and floating teams.
• Helps monitor branch performance to ensure staff meet goals.
• Assists branch employees with escalated issues and provides services to members.
• Manages ITM and Cash Recycler maintenance in branches.
• Approves membership applications, opens accounts, and processes loan applications.
• Handles cash orders, wire transfers, deposit holds, fee reversals, and debit card issues.
• Participates in branch audits, ensures compliance, and maintains branch appearance.
• Assists in collections, coordinates with the Collections department, and works on member solutions.
• Supports process improvements, community event participation, leadership training, and cross-departmental coordination.

Role Overview: The Floating Assistant Branch Manager will provide coverage for branch management or supervisory staff during absences, overseeing day-to-day branch operations on an interim basis, and as directed. This role involved supervising and coaching branch employees while enhancing member services satisfaction. Additionally, the position managers the floating branch staff within their designated region.

Essential Qualifications

Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma or equivalency certification. At a minimum, 1 year of supervisory experience in a financial institution; 3 years minimum supervisory experience overall. years of customer service, preferably in a banking environment. Notary license required to be obtained within three (3) months of hire. NMLS-ID (Mortgage Loan Originator) required and will be provided at time of hire if not already acquired. Bilingual preferred.

• Ability to work effectively with direct supervision and support branch goals.
• Intermediate mathematical skills with knowledge of loan processing procedures.
• Familiarity with credit union products, services, policies, and regulations.
• Understanding of relevant laws and regulations, including Truth in Lending, HMDA, ECOA, and others.

Working Conditions

• Must be able to communicate effectively through speaking and hearing, with visual acuity for reporting and presenting information.
• Occasionally required to lift over 45 lbs., such as supply boxes.
• Occasionally works unusual hours, including Credit Union Days and call nights.
• Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including Saturdays.
• Occasionally required to travel up to 50 miles for business needs.
