Job summary

Acelero Learning is seeking a Floater Assistant Teacher in New Jersey to support Head Start classrooms under the guidance of a lead teacher. You will collaborate with a small team of assistants and families to deliver a child-centered curriculum and inclusive learning experiences for children aged 0-5.

Responsibilities include planning developmentally appropriate activities, documenting progress, and maintaining a safe, engaging environment while communicating with stakeholders and attending

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• CDA or enrolled to complete within 2 years, or a degree in any field or enrollment in a program leading to such degree.
• Prior experience with children 0-5 years.
• Physical exam and background checks are required for this position.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Teacher to ensure the successful operation of a classroom.
• Work with a team of Assistant Teachers and families to implement curriculum for children of all abilities.
• Plan and implement learning experiences to advance literacy, language, numeracy, and readiness for school.
• Address challenging behaviors by observing causes and teaching social/communication skills.
• Document children’s progress using observations and anecdotal notes.
• Encourage family involvement and support relationships with children.
• Establish and maintain a safe and healthy learning environment.
• Support social and emotional development of children.
• Communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
• Participate in meetings, events and training as required.

Skills

Experience with young children (0-5)
