The Registered Nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for an identified group of patients. The staff RN will primarily work in the Emergency Department Resource Pool, demonstrating competency in care delivery to a primarily adult population. This job description is adapted from the ANA Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice, 3rd Edition (2015).
Minimum of 18 months recent emergency department nursing experience required.
Professional nursing knowledge acquired through graduation from an accredited School of Nursing, eligible for RN licensure. Non-BSN nurses with less than one year of RN experience must enroll in a BSN or higher degree program within 15 months of hire, completing it within 5 years (6 years for MSN, DNP, or PhD).
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.
Current Wisconsin RN license or multi-state license from a participating NLC state. BLS certification within 90 days of hire; ACLS within 6 months; PALS and TNCC within one year.
