Job summary

Ebenezer's corporate float nursing team is seeking a Float Resident Assistant to provide personal care and health-related services at assigned Ebenezer Assisted Living communities, enhancing residents’ physical and emotional wellbeing. The role supports day, evening, and overnight shifts as needed within a casual/on-call schedule.

The position requires availability for at least three shifts per month (two weekend shifts) and one holiday per year.

Qualifications

• Less than 1 year of previous experience.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Ability to use technology in the form of computers, handheld devices, cell phones, and fax machines.

Responsibilities

• Assists residents with personal cares including but not limited to bathing/showering, foot and fingernail care, shaving, dressing.
• Assist with use of hearing aids and/or glasses and hair care.
• Feeding and toileting support; escorts and 1-2 person transfers with mechanical lift.
• Provides health-related services as directed, including care plan tasks under RN direction and monitoring blood glucose.
• Administers or assists with medication under RN supervision (where applicable) and records vital signs under RN direction.
• Performs home services such as laundry, follows shift cleaning schedule, delivers meals, and assists with meal service.
• Assists with resident social/recreational activities and observes residents for changes in condition.
• Notifies staff of changes in physical/emotional conditions and serves as mandated reporter.

Job Overview

Ebenezer is looking for a Float Resident Assistant to join our corporate float nursing team with the Ebenezer corporate office! This position floats to assigned Ebenezer Assisted Living communities to provide personal care and designated health-related services to enhance and/or maintain the residents' physical and emotional wellbeing.

This Float caregiver schedule includes;

• On Call/Casual
• Day, Evening and Overnight (NOC) shifts available
• To maintain Casual status, employees must be willing to be available to work a minimum of three (3) shifts per month (two shifts must be weekend shifts) and one (1) Holiday shift per year. The weekend starts with the beginning of the night shift on Friday and ends with the beginning of the night shift on Sunday

Responsibilities:

• Assists residents with personal cares including but not limited to:
• Bathing/showering
• Foot and fingernail care
• Shaving
• Dressing
• Assistance with use of hearing aids and/or glasses
• Hair care
• Feeding
• Toileting
• Escorts
• 1-2 person transfers and use of mechanical lift
• Provides health-related services as directed:
• Assists with treatments per individualized care plan under the direction of the Registered Nurse. (includes blood glucose monitoring)
• Administers medication or assists with this under the direction of the Registered Nurse (includes insulin injections).
• Takes and records temperature, blood pressure, pulse and respiration under the direction of the Registered Nurse.
• Performs specified home services:
• Performs laundry service per schedule.
• Follows cleaning schedule for the shift worked.
• Delivers meal trays.
• Assists with meal service in dining room.
• Assists with preparing for and/or facilitating resident social and recreational activities as assigned and as requested.
• Observes residents and reports status to appropriate staff.
• Notifies appropriate staff of changes in physical and/or emotional conditions such as change in attitude or mood, loss of appetite, change in weight.
• Serves as a mandated reporter and reports any concerns regarding potential mistreatment
• Offers pertinent observations and input.
• Responds appropriately to resident and building emergencies.

Required Qualifications:

• Must be at least 18 years old

Preferred Qualifications:

• 1-3 years of previous experience
