Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health's Mount Auburn Hospital is seeking a float-pool nurse to support Medical & Surgical, Telemetry, Step Down, ICU and Emergency Department units. You will float between areas based on patient need, expanding your experience and earning potential.

This role requires an active RN license, BLS, and 1 year of general RN experience; strong communication and organizational skills are essential in a fast-paced hospital environment.

Qualifications

• Must possess a current, valid RN license in state of practice.
• 1-year minimum RN staff experience in medical/surgical or telemetry environment preferred.
• Current BLS certification.
• Demonstrates an aptitude and willingness to learn new responsibilities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent organization, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently, make decisions, meet deadlines, multi-task and solve problems; working under a moderate to high degree of pressure.
• Experience with a hospital-based computer system.

Responsibilities

• Provides competent and compassionate nursing care by utilizing the nursing process as evidenced by assessing, reassessing the patient’s needs, developing, implementing and evaluating an individualized plan of care.
• Assesses patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural and discharge planning needs. Reviews patient history and physical with patient/family and assures completion within appropriate timeframe.
• Implements the plan of care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation and supervision of the activities of the health care team.
• Delegates appropriately, and provides nursing guidance in the provision of care to patients by other members of the care team.
• Formulates a plan of care, including the discharge plan, utilizing assessment data and patient, family and health team input.
• Documents assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation in the patient record.
• Provides evidence-based care and may participate in research activities within clinical practice.
