Job summary

Medical University of South Carolina is seeking a Float Pool Registered Nurse to cover a variety of high-acuity units across MUSC Lancaster Medical Center and MUSC Chester Medical Center. Expect 36 hours per week with 12-hour day shifts while rotating through Emergency Room, Medical-Surgical, Telemetry, and Neurology Progressive Care units.

The role emphasizes flexible, clinically strong teamwork, and delivering compassionate, patient- and family-centered care in diverse environments.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
• Current South Carolina or compact-state RN license.
• Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care addressing the physical, emotional, spiritual, cultural, religious, and environmental needs of patients and families.
• Perform assessments, develop nursing diagnoses, identify expected outcomes, plan and implement interventions, coordinate care, provide health education and promotion, and evaluate patient outcomes.
• Deliver age- and developmentally appropriate care consistent with nursing standards, evidence-based practice, and MUSC policies.
• Direct and lead assigned team members while collaborating effectively with physicians and multidisciplinary team members.
• Identify clinical priorities and take initiative to improve patient outcomes.
• Coordinate the effective and efficient delivery of patient care through the application of care management principles.
• Maintain a safe, therapeutic, and healing environment by protecting patient privacy and demonstrating professional behavior.
• Demonstrate strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, autonomy, and accountability in daily practice.
• Actively participate in the professional practice model, including shared governance, peer review, professional development, and leadership initiatives.
• Promote a healthy work environment through effective communication, teamwork, collaboration, and respect.
