Job description

The Physician is responsible for assessing and treating patient physical health, conducting exams, coordinating referrals, documenting, overseeing ARNPs, performing minor procedures, collaborating with psychiatric and interdisciplinary staff, educating patients and families, ensuring safety compliance, tailoring treatment plans, and handling after‑hours on‑call responsibilities. Travel may be required; work is primarily in correctional or clinical settings.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Medical doctorate (MD) or doctor of osteopathy (DO) from an accredited university
• Two (2) years post‑residency clinical experience in outpatient/inpatient settings; psychiatric experience preferred
• Licensed in the state of employment
• Current DEA and applicable certifications
• Board certified or eligible in internal or family medicine

Key Responsibilities

• Assess patients’ physical health through examinations and diagnostic procedures
• Provide and oversee documentation, outside referrals, consultations, and follow‑ups
• Offer clinical oversight and support to ARNPs, including care provision and documentation review
• Perform minor medical procedures such as sutures, IV placement, and lumbar puncture
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary staff and provide education to patients and families
