Job summary

UNFI seeks a Float Pharmacist to support multiple pharmacy locations across the Twin Cities metro. This role requires travel to assigned sites, providing safe, accurate dispensing and friendly customer service.

You will supervise technicians, interns, and clerks, perform patient consultations, and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, as well as company policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Must have a college degree in Pharmacy (BS or PharmD) and hold a valid state license.
  • Meets all requirements of and maintains status as a Certified Immunizer.
  • Must complete continuing education hours as required by state, federal and company training programs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.

Responsibilities

  • Takes all steps required to fill prescriptions in compliance with laws and company policies.
  • Counts, pours, or measures out the required quantity according to procedures.
  • Offers professional consultation in compliance with laws and regulations.
  • Endorses and participates in all clinical program offerings.
  • Responds to telephone requests from customers, physicians, and vendors.
  • Communicates professionally with peers, managers, physicians, and customers.
  • Maintains state and federal record keeping for controlled substances.
  • Accesses the pharmacy computer to verify patient records and third-party parameters.
  • Complies with procedures for hazardous drug handling and dispensing.

Come Join Our Team as a Float Pharmacist in the Twin Cities!

This Float Pharmacist role requires travel to multiple pharmacy locations throughout the Twin Cities metro area. In this role, you will provide prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service while ensuring safe and accurate prescription dispensing. You will manage pharmacy operations during assigned shifts, provide patient consultation, and oversee pharmacy technicians, graduate interns, and clerks in compliance with federal and state regulations, as well as company policies and procedures.

Job Responsibilities
  • Takes all steps required to fill prescriptions in compliance with all laws, regulations, physician orders and company policies and procedures regarding the sale of pharmaceuticals.
  • Counts, pours, or measures out the required quantity according to established company methods and procedures.
  • Offers advice and professional consultation in compliance with state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Actively endorses and participates in all clinical program offerings.
  • Responds to telephone requests from customers, physicians, and vendors, which require the expertise of the pharmacist.
  • Communicates and cooperates in a professional manner with peers, subordinates, managers, physicians, and customers in all pharmacy related areas.
  • Maintains all state and federal record keeping for controlled substances.
  • Accesses the pharmacy computer to obtain complete patient record (on both cash and third-party prescriptions) and verifies third-party plan parameters.
  • Complies with standard operating procedures in handling and dispensing of hazardous drugs.
Job Requirements
  • Must have a college degree in Pharmacy (BS or PharmD) and hold a valid state license.

Physical Requirements
  • Visual requirements include clarity of vision at more than 20 inches and less than 20 feet with color vision, depth perception and field of vision.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time. Stooping, bending, twisting, and reaching may be required in completion of job duties.
  • Position may require periodic travel throughout assigned area by car.
  • Good judgment is required for this position as there may be times when direct supervision may not be immediately available.

Compensation

UNFI anticipates paying the above-referenced pay rate (or within the above-referenced pay range) for this position. Actual Pay, where applicable, will depend on a number of factors, including, but not limited to, education, experience, training, and any requirements under applicable collective bargaining agreements.
