Job summary

DaVita in Indianapolis is seeking a Float Patient Care Technician to support dialysis patients across multiple clinic locations and to provide direct patient care with a focus on safety and comfort. You will rotate across 14 clinics in the Greater Indianapolis area, working mornings and other shifts, with training provided and license costs reimbursed.

This role emphasizes teamwork with clinicians and leadership to deliver quality care.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3+ years in health care in a clinical/hospital setting; dialysis experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Direct patient care during dialysis; monitor patient condition and educate patients.
• Set up hemodialysis machines; record stats and observations; ensure safety and hygiene.
• Collaborate with nurses, dietitians, social workers and leadership; report to RN.

DaVita is seeking a Float Patient Care Technician who is looking to make an exceptional difference in the lives of our patients and their families dealing with end-stage renal failure or chronic kidney disease.

Some details about this position

• 3+ years of health care experience in a clinical/hospital environment is required - Dialysis experience is strongly preferred.
• Training may take place in a facility or a training clinic other than your assigned home clinic.
• Comfortable floating across 14 clinical locations within the Greater Indianapolis area.
• You must have a flexible schedule and be able to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays - shift times will start as early as 4:00AM; no overnight scheduling, no Sundays.

What you can expect

• Direct Patient Care: Spend the majority of your day in direct one-on-one patient care to provide safe, comfortable and hygienic dialysis treatment. Educate patient on kidney disease.
• Technician Duties: To monitor patients before, during and after dialysis treatment including measuring and recording stats, patient observations, and hemodialysis machine setup. Please note you will have exposure to blood and needles.
• Working on a cross functional team of clinicians including technicians, nurses, dietitians, social workers and leadership. PCTs work under the supervision of a RN.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Must be comfortable working around blood and needles and mixing acid or bicarb.
• Must be comfortable working 8-12 hour shifts, 3-4 days per week, flexible in schedule.
• Health care experience a plus including: BONENT Certified, Certified Hemodialysis Technician (CHT), Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), or Phlebotomy certification.
