The Medical Assistant is responsible for supporting the Specialties and Same Day Care/Urgent Care practice with overall responsibility for maintaining efficiency of patient flow. The areas include but are not limited to Same Day Care/Urgent Care, Dermatology, Rheumatology, Pulmonary, Nephrology, Gastroenterology, Infectious Disease and Podiatry. Some providers practice in either Norwell or Quincy. Clinical duties include maintaining universal precautions; rooming patients, taking vital signs and measurements, performing phlebotomy as needed, administering vaccines, and providing support during procedures. He/She will also handle patient education, counseling, various testing and screenings, maintaining patient rooms, setting up equipment, ordering and tracking supplies, and general administrative tasks such as scheduling, filing, answering phones, preparing correspondence and patient charts, and obtaining referrals and paperwork from referring physicians.
Compensation Pay Range: $17.42 - $23.45 per hour
Minimum Education: High School Diploma or equivalent preferred. Completion of a Medical Assistant program preferred.
Minimum Work Experience: Experience in a clinical setting preferred.
License/Certifications: BLS – Basic Life Support required. CMA – Certified Medical Assistant certificate preferred.
Required Additional Knowledge and Abilities: Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills; strong clinical and judgment skills; good organizational and prioritization skills; ability to work successfully as a team player; demonstrated knowledge of varied medical procedures; extensive knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and English grammar; ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations; ability to read, understand, and respond to detailed instructions; ability to lead and take direction from a nursing supervisor; proficiency with electronic medical records, telephone communications, e‑mail, and other software, including EPIC EHR.
Work hours: M‑F days with varied hours; one weekend a month and one holiday per year.
