Job summary

Griffon Aerospace in Madison, Alabama seeks a Flight Test and Instructor Operator to support a Group 3 UAS program for U.S. Army requirements. You will interface with Customer, Manufacturing, Engineering, Flight Test and UAS Flight Operations staff.

The ideal candidate has extensive experience with large military UAS platforms and demonstrates exceptional situational awareness, precision control, and the ability to perform under pressure in a military flight test environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of experience operating DoD Group 3 UAS or larger.
• U.S. Army UAS Instructor Operator Course graduate or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to test sites.
• Ability to obtain and maintain DOT medical certificate.
• Must have a Class II FAA Flight Physical.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Must pass a pre-employment background check.
• Ability to operate Group 3 UAS from a Ground Control Station (GCS).
• Ability to apply practical knowledge to flight testing of DoD unmanned aircraft.

Responsibilities

• Conduct developmental flight tests for UAS platforms.
• Act as Pilot in Command (PIC) of UAS, supporting flight training, test events, and production sorties.
• Responsible for safe and effective operation of the unmanned aircraft system.
• Formulate flight training programs, lesson plans, and training schedules.
• Select instructional procedures or methods such as group instruction, simulation, or computer-based training.
• Organize and develop training manuals, checklists, and evaluation guidelines.
• Train assigned personnel in tactics, techniques, and technologies.
• Coordinate and participate in ground and flight operations including planning, briefing, and debriefing.
• Ensure compliance with FAA regulations and company procedures.
• Familiarity with Army forms and Contractor Flight and Ground Operations procedures.
