Job summary

Griffon Aerospace in Huntsville, AL seeks a Flight Test Engineer to lead test programs for UAS and avionics systems, guiding planning, execution, analysis, and reporting. You will serve as a technical authority across Griffon's programs, collaborating with government and industry partners to maintain airworthiness and data integrity.

The role requires a DoD background with 6+ years engineering experience, strong flight test discipline, and the ability to obtain Top Secret / SCI clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Aeronautical, Mechanical Engineering or closely related field.
• 6+ years of engineering experience, with 4+ years in a DoD environment preferred.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret / SCI DoD security clearance; U.S. Citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Lead all phases of flight test from planning to final report recommendations.
• Serve as project engineer on developmental, operational, and research tests involving fixed-wing UAS.
• Apply disciplined flight test methods across planning, operations, and data reduction.
• Interface with government test organizations, primes, and subcontractors for safety plan approvals.
• Review modification packages for air vehicles, GCS, and related equipment.
• Assess data from test execution and provide actionable recommendations to leadership.
• Support PX4 mission planning and contribute to flight controller configuration.
• Represent Griffon Aerospace professionally to government customers and oversight agencies.
