Job summary

FMS Aerospace in Huntsville, AL is seeking an experienced Mid to Senior Level Test Instrumentation Engineer to design, develop, integrate, and implement data acquisition systems and instrumentation for test programs. You will collaborate across engineering disciplines to define instrumentation requirements, develop hardware/software, and calibrate systems for flight-test readiness.

The role requires 3–5 years in data acquisition and lab/test environments, proficiency with instrumentation

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in data acquisition and instrumentation.
• 3+ years in a lab/test, flight test, or similar test environment.
• Experience with data acquisition attributes (range, accuracy, frequency, bandwidth).
• Experience with transducers and sensor characteristics for hardware selection.
• Ability to interpret electrical drawings/schematics.
• Proficiency in English (written and spoken).

Responsibilities

• Specify, select, design, integrate, operate, and maintain aircraft data acquisition systems and related components.
• Collaborate with engineering disciplines to determine parameters to monitor, record, and display.
• Review avionics and wiring manuals to develop instrumentation integration approaches.
• Develop Master Parameter List defining parameters, sensors, range, accuracy, and sampling rates.
• Collaborate to develop wiring diagrams for test instrumentation harnesses.
• Create Instrumentation Plan documenting system equipment and setup for data collection.
• Oversee installation, checkout, and calibration to ensure proper data display and analysis.
• Troubleshoot instrumentation systems, transducers, and test-related issues.
• Maintain configuration control and mission capability of instrumentation system.
