Job summary

Honda Aircraft Company is seeking a qualified aviation specialist to ensure airworthy, mission-ready status for experimental aircraft supporting development and certification goals.

You will coordinate configuration, maintenance, modifications, and test scheduling, working with engineering, instrumentation, manufacturing, and quality teams to enable safe, efficient flight test operations. Strong documentation and FAA regulatory knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate degree in aviation maintenance technology, aviation management, aeronautics, engineering technology preferred; FAA Dispatch License, A&P License, and/or Pilot License desired.
• Minimum 5 years aviation experience.
• Experience researching, writing, and editing technical documentation for engineering, aviation, and certification; knowledge of FAA regulations and guidance.
• Experience with aircraft modification planning and execution; proficiency with MS Office, SAP, TeamCenter.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering instructions and drawings.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; strong organization, interpersonal skills, adaptability and detail orientation.
• Flexibility to work any shift and travel.

Responsibilities

• Plan maintenance, inspections, and status management for test aircraft; author work orders and support squawk resolution.

• Maintain ground, flight, maintenance, and modification schedules; review engineering releases for impacts.
• Coordinate off-site test campaigns and resource logistics; track actions to closure.
• Participate in Safety Management System activities and adhere to FAA regulations and company policies.

Job description

Ensures assigned experimental aircraft are maintained in an airworthy, mission-ready condition to support development and certification objectives. Coordinates required aircraft configuration, maintenance, modifications, scheduling, certification activities, and off-site test operations to enable the safe, efficient, and successful execution of the flight test program.

Key Accountabilities:

• Aircraft readiness, configuration management, and flight test support. Coordinate development and certification flight activities for assigned aircraft, including pre-flight readiness, configuration status, maintenance status briefings, and aircraft release for test missions.
• Maintenance planning, inspection compliance, and aircraft status management. Manage aircraft configuration and maintenance planning to meet test requirements, including work order authoring, QN disposition support, inspections, scheduled maintenance, and squawk resolution.
• Modification planning and cross-functional coordination. Coordinate and execute hardware, software, and instrumentation modifications in collaboration with Instrumentation, Engineering, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Flight Test Technicians, and Quality.
• Flight test scheduling and operational coordination. Maintain aircraft ground, flight, maintenance, and modification schedules to align with project schedules and review Engineering releases for impacts to assigned aircraft.
• Off-site test campaign planning and resource coordination. Coordinate personnel, material, equipment, facilities, financial, and logistical resources; support conformity and off-site readiness reviews and track actions to closure.
• Safety, compliance, and continuous improvement. Participate in Honda Aircraft Company Safety Management System activities and adhere to FAA regulations and company policies and procedures.

Qualifications, Experience, & Skills:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate degree in aviation maintenance technology, aviation management, aeronautics, engineering technology, or a related technical discipline preferred. FAA Dispatch License, A&P License, and/or Pilot License desired.
• Minimum 5 years aviation experience.
• Experience researching, writing, and editing technical documentation for engineering, aviation, and certification. Knowledge of aircraft maintenance and aircraft certification-related FAA regulations and guidance material.
• Experience with aircraft modification planning and execution. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, SAP, and TeamCenter.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering instructions and engineering drawings.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong organization, interpersonal skills, adaptability, and detail orientation.
• Flexibility to work any shift and willingness to travel.

Working Conditions:

• Routine exposure may include equipment operational noise, heat/cold, dust, aircraft equipment, parts, or fuel odors.
• May be required to stand, sit, squat, walk, bend, climb ladders, move, reach, or stretch for prolonged periods as required by job duties.
• Must work in a safe and professional manner while adhering to regulatory requirements including FAA, OSHA, DOT, EPA, State, and Federal regulations.
• Must be able to read, hear, speak, and see as required by job duties; comprehend and follow management direction and safety instructions; and communicate effectively in Business English. May pull, push, carry, lift, or move items up to 25 lbs. without assistance and materials/items/equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. or more with Company-provided movement or reach-assist technology as required.
• Must be flexible to various schedules, necessary overtime, changing priorities, and travel requirements. Travel may be required to support aircraft testing, maintenance activities, supplier coordination, and off-site operational support.
