Job summary

Analytical Mechanics Associates (AMA) is seeking a System Safety engineer for an onsite role at Armstrong Flight Research Center in Edwards, CA. The candidate will provide system safety expertise for flight and ground operations and lead risk-management activities across multiple projects.

The position requires a engineering or physical science degree with 3+ years of experience or an advanced degree, US citizenship, and willingness to travel as needed. Salary ranges from $75k to $95k.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Physical Science and 3+ year' experience or Advanced Degree in Engineering or Physical Science.

Responsibilities

  • Provide System Safety expertise to project teams and develop system safety plans for flight and ground operations.
  • Maintain CRM, capture lessons learned, and analyze component reliability and maintainability.
  • Lead projects through System Safety Working Group discussions, capture risks, hazards, and mitigation.
  • Develop and maintain project hazard database and support hazard reporting.
  • Support review groups for independent assessments of the project.
  • Participate in meetings, design reviews, and flight readiness reviews.
  • Prepare presentations and present system safety hazard status to NASA center management and safety boards.
  • Complete NASA and DoD safety training to maintain competency.
