Job summary

Firestorm in San Diego is seeking a Principal Automation Engineer responsible for delivering flight-ready software across UAS platforms. This hands-on role involves collaboration across hardware, autonomy, and testing to ensure successful flight outcomes.

Ideal candidates will have extensive experience in robotics and autonomous systems, with strong programming skills in Python and C/C++. Additional skills include leadership in cross-functional teams and effective communication of complex technical concepts.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of experience in UAS, robotics, autonomous systems, or software engineering.
• Hands-on experience with autopilot systems.
• Demonstrated experience in SIL and HIL systems.

Responsibilities

• Deliver integrated, flight-ready software across various systems.
• Lead integration and validation on hardware.
• Set software architecture and coding standards.

Skills

UAS and robotics experience

Proficiency in Python

C or C++ proficiency

Strong communication

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field
