Job summary

Qualifications

• Flight physical (USAF Flying Class II) required.
• AMP Aerospace Medicine Primary course completed.
• Completion of Officer Training School.
• U.S. citizen aged 18–47; willing to relocate.

Responsibilities

• Conduct medical examinations and provide care for air and missile crews.
• Determine fitness for flying and special duties; assess living and working environments for health hazards.
• Participate in flying missions to advise on aeromedical issues.
• Develop and manage preventive medicine programs and educate flight personnel.
• Establish procedures for managing casualties in aviation accidents and disasters.
• Advise on aeromedical evacuation and serve on mishap investigation boards.
• Act as liaison between flying squadrons and medical services.

• Determine fitness for flying and special duties as well as evaluating living and working environments to detect and control health hazards
• Regularly participate in flying missions to observe and advise on aeromedical issues
• Develop and manage preventive medicine programs, including the education of flight personnel in healthy lifestyles
• Establish procedures for managing casualties in aviation accidents and other disasters
• Provide advise on aeromedical evacuation and serve on aviation mishap investigation boards
• Serve as the liaison between flying squadrons and medical services

Qualifications

To be considered, you must meet the following requirements:

• Completion of a U.S. residency at a fully accredited residency program with subsequent board certification in that primary specialty
• Board certification must be current and in a primary care specialty such as family, emergency, pediatrics, internal medicine or by the ABPM, and must show proof of primary care privileges for the 12 months directly preceding commissioning.
• Completion of a flight physical (USAF Flying Class II)
• Completion of the Aerospace Medicine Primary (AMP) course (~nine weeks)
• Completion of eight-week Officer Training School
• Must be a U.S. citizen between the ages of 18 and 47
• Must be willing to relocate
