Job summary

Impulse Space in Colorado seeks a Flight Software Engineer to design, develop, and integrate software powering our space vehicles. You’ll collaborate with avionics, GNC, and propulsion teams on high‑reliability, high‑performance flight software.

You’ll contribute to GNC algorithms, command/telemetry handling, mission sequencing, autonomy, fault management, and real‑time scheduling for deterministic in‑space operation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/CE/EE or related field.
• 2+ years experience writing C++ for embedded systems or vehicles.
• Understanding of computer architecture, OS, data structures, and networking.
• Experience with RTOS or Embedded Linux.
• Experience with version control and software testing practices.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, integrate, and verify software for GNC, command/telemetry.
• Develop mission sequencing, autonomy, and fault management capabilities.
• Support closed‑loop control of propulsion and attitude systems.
• Enhance real-time flight software framework for deterministic performance in space environments.
• Create detection and mitigation algorithms for sensor or actuator faults.
• Lead code reviews and ensure safety, reliability, and maintainability.
