Job summary

APT Research is seeking a Flight Termination System Engineer to support its Range Safety Operations Division at Wallops Flight Facility. The engineer will review, test, and certify FTS hardware and electronics to meet stringent regulatory and mission requirements.

Ideally, candidates have 5+ years in aerospace or defense electronics with FTS or safety-critical systems, plus strong RF knowledge and EMI/EMC testing experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field.
  • Five years of experience in aerospace or defense electronics, with FTS or safety-critical systems.
  • Experience with FTS and/or safety-critical systems for rockets.
  • Strong knowledge of RF systems, command destruct receivers, and high-reliability circuit design.
  • Familiarity with NASA, MIL-STD, and FAA range safety and FTS requirements.
  • Hands-on experience with environmental testing (thermal, vibration, EMI/EMC).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in cross-disciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

  • Review designs, test, and certify FTS hardware and electronics that meet regulatory and mission requirements.
  • Support safety and mission services for range safety and flight termination operations.
  • Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams across NASA facilities and prime contractors.
