Job summary

SpaceX is hiring an Electric Propulsion Engineer to join a collaborative team designing, testing, and qualifying flight-qualified electric propulsion systems for in-space constellations. The role covers end-to-end hardware ownership from design through production support and qualification to meet demanding reliability targets.

Responsibilities include test facility design and operation, data analysis, and cross-functional collaboration with manufacturing, reliability, and operations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, aerospace, physics, or other engineering discipline.
  • 3+ years of experience designing, testing, and analyzing electric propulsion systems or related hardware.
  • Proven ability to deliver high-reliability hardware for flight or mission-critical use.

Responsibilities

  • Design, analyze, test, and provide operational support for high-volume production spacecraft electric propulsion hardware
  • Partner with manufacturing to enable efficient, reliable, high-rate production
  • Design, build, modify, operate, and troubleshoot electric propulsion test facilities including vacuum chambers and data acquisition systems
  • Analyze and review test data with numerical tools to confirm hardware operation and inform design decisions
  • Lead root-cause investigations and component redesigns to improve reliability and production rates
  • Develop and execute qualification test plans for flight readiness (vibration, shock, thermal cycle, life cycle, fault injection)
  • Own critical spaceflight hardware end-to-end with cross-functional support
  • Work with technicians, engineers, and managers to implement design/process improvements
  • Communicate clearly under ambiguity and elevate risks early
