Job summary

Navan is seeking an experienced Software Engineer II on the Flights team to build and scale the engine that powers flight search, booking, payment, and expense workflows for millions of users.

The role focuses on architecting high-throughput core services, delivering end-to-end features, and driving system resiliency in a cloud-native, microservices environment using Java/Spring Boot on AWS.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of backend software development experience.
• Strong CS foundations: data structures, algorithms, OOD.
• Experience shipping production-grade backend services.
• Proficiency in Java and modern frameworks (Spring/Spring Boot).
• Cloud-native applications on AWS; microservice architectures.

Responsibilities

• Architect & scale core services (high-throughput APIs, backend microservices).
• Ship end-to-end features from design to production deployment and monitoring.
• Drive system resiliency with automated tests, observability, and telemetry.
• Collaborate with product, design, and engineering leads to translate requirements into scalable solutions.
• Elevate developer craftsmanship through code reviews and shared frameworks.
• Continuously evaluate new technologies to modernize backend stack.
