Overview

Embark on an extraordinary career as a Flight Paramedic with Air Methods in Joplin, MO.

Nestled amidst the captivating landscapes of Joplin, this location offers a perfect blend of natural beauty and cultural richness. As a pivotal member of our team, you'll play a crucial role in providing life-saving medical transport to the community.

With a minimum of 36 months of recent experience in a busy 911 transport or flight setting, your expertise will be invaluable. Operating on a schedule of 24-hour shifts, you'll deliver top-notch critical care, adhering to the highest standards set by Air Methods Community Base Services (CBS) Medical Director(s).

Your responsibilities will include assessment, triage, and treatment, ensuring the safe transport of critical patients to medical facilities. From a helicopter, you'll enjoy scenic views of Missouri, enhancing your daily work experience.

Responsibilities

Provide high-quality pre-hospital advanced life support, including assessment, triage, and treatment, following standards established by Air Methods CBS Medical Director(s). Ensure safety remains the highest priority throughout transport.

Essential Functions:

  1. Provide pre-hospital advanced life support care from initial contact until patient transfer, maintaining thorough documentation.
  2. Practice within your scope of practice as defined by state regulations and Air Methods CBS. Maintain competency through ongoing education and training.
  3. Maintain documentation of licensure, certifications, continuing education, and training. Attend at least six relevant educational programs annually.
  4. Maintain and report on medical equipment, ensuring repairs and adequate supplies onboard aircraft. Keep aircraft clean and ready for rapid response.
  5. Participate in patient follow-up, outreach, and educational activities.
  6. Attend pre-mission briefings and debriefings, assist with checklists, and follow safety standards. Conduct aircraft safety briefings as needed.
  7. Serve as a resource for neonatal/pediatric transports and perform advanced skills as approved.
  8. Act as a role model and educator, participating in departmental activities, research, and staying current with pre-hospital care issues.
  9. Perform other duties as assigned.

Additional Requirements:

  • Regular attendance is essential.
  • Travel percentage: approximately 5%.
Qualifications

Must be able to perform all essential functions satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations will be provided as required by law.

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED; three years of related experience or training; or equivalent.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum three years’ recent experience in a busy 911 system.
  • Previous critical care transport and flight experience are a plus.

Operation and Safety:

  • Maintain weight not to exceed 225 pounds, including gear.

Skills:

  • Practice as a paramedic per state scope and medical director’s standards.
  • Strong interpersonal, critical thinking, and multitasking skills.
  • Flexible schedule including overtime and on-call.
  • Dependable, self-motivated, and excellent communicator.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Certificates and Licenses:

  • EMT-P license in state(s) served.
  • National certification may be required.
  • FP-C or CCP-C certification within two years of hire.
  • Current BLS/CPR, ACLS, PALS, and advanced trauma certifications.
  • NRP certification before third-rider orientation.
  • NIMS and HazMat training upon hire.

Compensation

Minimum: USD $63,747.84/year; Maximum: USD $77,925.12/year.
