Job summary

Chippenham Hospital is seeking a Flight Paramedic to respond to medical emergencies and provide advanced critical care during transport to the hospital. As the initial on-scene provider, you will work with firefighters and police to assess the situation and deliver life-saving care per your training level.

You will operate EMS vehicles and deliver aggressive treatments while coordinating with receiving teams.

Qualifications

  • ACLS, BCLS, NALS, and PALS must be obtained within 30 days of start date.
  • Paramedic license/certification required.
  • Vocational training completed.
  • Ability to work rotating days/nights and weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Operate emergency medical vehicle and respond to emergent calls.
  • Evaluate patient condition to determine treatment.
  • Provide emergency medical care to injured or ill patients.
  • Perform invasive procedures under adverse conditions.
  • Manage non-medical aspects like crowd control and safeguarding belongings.
  • Lift and transport patients and maintain stability during transport.
  • Communicate patient data to EMS/ER staff.

Job Summary and Qualifications

The Paramedic responds to medical emergencies and provides advanced critical care during the transport to the hospital. As the first healthcare provider at the scene, the Paramedic partners with firefighters and police in evaluating the situation. The Paramedic offers basic and advanced life saving support, administers treatments, and directs EMTs in delivering patient care consistent with training and level of certification.

What you will do in this role:
  • Operate emergency medical vehicle and responds to calls for aid in emergent situations.
  • Evaluate patient condition to establish the right course of treatment.
  • Provide a variety of emergency medical treatment to injured, sick, or incapacitated persons.
  • Perform invasive procedures under adverse conditions.
  • Manage non-medical situations such as crowd control and protecting the valuables of a patient if necessary.
  • Lift and transport patients, ensuring patients remain stable during transport.
  • Communicate patient data and condition to professional medical personnel at emergency treatment facility.
What qualifications you will need:
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • NALS Neonatal Advance Life Sup must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • PALS Pediatric Adv Life Supt must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • Paramedic License/Certification
  • Vocational School Graduate
  • Basic Trauma Life Support, or Prehospital Trauma Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • Possess the ability to work rotating days/nights and weekends
