Job summary

AST SpaceMobile is seeking a Mechanisms Flight Engineer to verify and support deployment and actuation systems for spacecraft in the flat sat environment. You will validate mechanics, electronics, and controls, and ensure flight procedures are executable from lab to orbit.

The role requires hands-on verification, automated testing, and collaboration across Mechanisms, Avionics, Software, I&T, and Flight Operations teams to ensure mission readiness and successful deployment events.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical, or aerospace engineering or related field.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain the mechanism drive/control representation on the flat sat.
• Bring-up and troubleshoot mechanism drive electronics and sensors.
• Develop automated and manual verification procedures for deployment and actuation.
• Create test automation scripts to improve repeatability and coverage.
• Execute flight operations for deployment and actuation events.
• Rehearse commissioning and on-orbit actuation in lab.
• Verify electrical interfaces against ICDs and schematics.
• Instrument and monitor mechanism performance with lab equipment.
• Collaborate with Mechanisms, Avionics, Software, I&T, Systems Engineering, and Flight Ops.
