Job summary

Bastion Technologies is hiring a Quality Control Technician in Houston to perform in-process inspections at Manufacturing Inspection Points (MIPs) and to buy off conformance while stopping the line for nonconformances when required.

The role requires interpreting engineering drawings, applying NASA standards, and maintaining accurate documentation of results and CAPA/MRB processes. Some travel and strict compliance with security and background checks apply.

Qualifications

• Requires US Citizenship or Permanent Resident status due to sensitive customer information.
• Requires an associate degree or equivalent.
• Minimum 3+ years of related work experience (or 5+ years in lieu of degree).
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and inspection criteria.
• Experience with flight hardware traceability, parts/process control, or mission-critical hardware inspection.
• Familiarity with AS9100/ISO 9001 requirements and MIP/buy-off documentation practices (inspection stamp authorization).
• Familiarity with NASA quality assurance requirements (NPR 8735.2, NASA-STD-8709.22, or NASA-STD-8739 series).
• Experience supporting root cause analysis or nonconformance documentation (CAPA, MRB).

Responsibilities

• Perform in-process floor inspections at Manufacturing Inspection Points (MIPs) per the production traveler.
• Buy off MIPs when conformance is verified; stop the line on nonconformance.
• Apply NASA workmanship and quality requirements to flight hardware.
• Use precision measurement and inspection equipment for each MIP.
• Document inspection results, buy-off records, and nonconformances in real time.
• Identify and communicate quality anomalies and process deviations; support containment.
• Verify tool control and calibration before use.
• Maintain a clean, organized inspection station.
