Job summary

JPL/NASA in Pasadena, CA is seeking a Precision Cleaning Technician to support the Mechanical, Packaging, and Test Section. You will prepare, clean, assemble and test electro-mechanical flight hardware, following procedures and lab standards.

The role involves handling hazardous chemicals, operating ultrasonic cleaners and vacuum/oven chambers, and maintaining part traceability. A 12-month term with 80-hour schedule and DOE pay is offered, with comprehensive benefits and in-office work.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or equivalent with 3–4 years of general work experience, or an associate degree with 2 years, or a bachelor's with 1 year.
• Ability to understand cleaning of mechanical hardware and follow cleaning procedures using cleaning fluids, microscopes and particle counters.
• Experience with mechanical hardware assembly/test and flight hardware handling.

Responsibilities

• Interact with customers and quality assurance to prepare and perform precision cleaning, assembly, testing and gas sampling on R&D and flight components.
• Ensure processes, product and environment comply with lab protocols and regulations.
• Handle chemicals and cleaning solutions such as isopropyl alcohol, acetone and detergents.
• Operate ultrasonic cleaners and perform passivation and handling of acidic solutions.
• Load hardware into thermal vacuum or oven chambers and follow safe chamber operation procedures.
• Maintain part traceability for large batches and follow ISO-5 cleanroom protocols.
