Job summary

Varda in El Segundo, CA is seeking an Avionics Hardware Development Engineer to design, manufacture, test, and qualify electrical components for spaceflight. You will own hardware through all lifecycle phases and deliver testable flight-ready solutions for in‑space products.

Join a team with SpaceX/Blue Origin veterans, work on flight computers, sensors, and RF systems, and contribute to a rigorous test regime including TVAC, vibration, and EMI.

Qualifications

• B.S. in electrical/computer engineering or related field.
• Experience designing flight hardware boards from schematic to functional test on flight programs.
• Strong knowledge of signal integrity, power, grounding, and board layout principles.

Responsibilities

• Develop mixed-signal designs and shepherd them through the full product lifecycle.
• Support avionics architecture trade studies, performance characterization and specification.
• Support risk analyses, design for test/manufacture/cost, and root-cause analysis of test discrepancies.
• Design electrical circuit boards.
• Collaborate on mechanical design fit, form, and function.
• Functionally test hardware through thermal, vibe, shock, TVAC, and EMI.
• Write vehicle level integration test plans to validate for flight.
• Perform root cause analysis for test failures and develop mitigation strategies for flight risks.
• Example avionics products: flight computers, networking, star trackers, reaction wheels, magnetorquers, payload controllers, battery packs, solar charger, RF transceiver and decoder.
