Job summary

Varda Space Industries in El Segundo, CA is seeking an Avionics Systems engineer to oversee the design, integration, and testing of avionics for the Winnebago Spaceship. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure readiness for launch and reentry.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, 3+ years of system design/validation, and Python programming. Experience with HITL testbeds and power/DAQ equipment is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• At least 3 years of system design, test planning, and validation.
• Proficiency in programming and debugging with Python.
• Experience with power supplies, modular DAQ systems, RTD and 4-20mA devices, and general test equipment.

Responsibilities

• Define project scopes from concept to prototype and production.
• Develop electrical architecture, system diagrams, and budgets for power, telemetry, and mass predictions.
• Analyze architecture for faults, create mitigation plans, and contribute to FDIR and workarounds.
• Create verification plans for avionics systems on flight and HITL hardware.
• Participate in mission operations as an avionics specialist or system operator.
• Oversee integration of Winnebago avionics systems and coordinate investigations.
• Design, build, and operate HITL testbeds to simulate spacecraft on the ground.
• Develop avionics ground infrastructure and test racks for flight vehicles.
• Mentor and train engineers to foster learning and continuous improvement.
