Job summary

Mountain Air Cargo, Inc. (MAC) is seeking a Flight Follower/Aircraft Dispatcher to join the Operations Control Center. You will plan, monitor and coordinate flights, ensuring safety, regulatory compliance, and timely operations across fields and routes.

The role requires FAA Part 121 Dispatcher certification, strong communication, and the ability to work in a fast-paced team environment. Training and ongoing qualification updates are required.

  • Maintains a shift log with key flight data.
  • Complies with health and safety regulations.

Position Purpose

To serve as a Flight Follower in the Operations Control Center (OCC) and ensure the OCC serves its primary mission of managing the airline's operations to the highest degree of safety and efficiency. This includes the responsibility of leading Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Irregular Operations (IROPS), and ensuring that the best service is provided to the customer by effectively planning and communicating.

Responsibilities/Duties
  • Plans, releases and monitors flights in accordance with applicable Federal Regulations and Mountain Air Cargo, Inc. (MAC) policies and procedures.
  • Monitors the status of all company flights from pre-flight planning through departure until completion of the flight.
  • Works in a team environment with a positive attitude.
  • Collects and disseminates weather and aeronautical information to flight crews.
  • Ensures all ground handling, deicing, fuel, landing/departure slots, and landing/overfly permits are in order prior to releasing a flight.
  • Identifies, anticipates, and takes corrective action to minimize actual/potential delays due to weather, scheduling, operations, crew legality, maintenance issues, or any other operational disruption.
  • Advises appropriate personnel of potential/actual delays and conditions affecting safety of flight.
  • Coordinates with Maintenance Control to ensure aircraft status will permit the intended operation to be conducted safely and in accordance with applicable ATC, government regulations, and international policies.
  • Ensures that MEL/CDL limitations or restrictions are evaluated and complied with.
  • Determines airport suitability/risk assessment.
  • Maintains a shift log for recording key data for all assigned flights and missions.
  • Complies with all applicable federal/state health and safety regulations.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Valid FAA Part 121 Aircraft Dispatcher Certificate.
  • Ability to pass a 10-year criminal history and background check.
  • Able to pass a DOT drug screen and be enrolled in the company Drug and Alcohol Testing Program.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Excel, Word).
  • Excellent written and oral communication.
  • Time management skills, organization, and the ability to prioritize tasks.

Training Requirements:Remain current and qualified as a Flight Follower/Dispatcher.

  • FAA Certificate Contingency:This position requires holding and maintaining a valid FAA Part 121 Aircraft Dispatcher Certificate in good standing at all times. Any suspension, revocation, or lapse of this certificate may result in termination of employment.
  • Pre-Employment & Random Drug and Alcohol Testing:This position is subject to pre-employment drug testing in accordance with FAA regulations (14 CFR Part 120) and DOT procedures (49 CFR Part 40). All applicants who receive a conditional offer of employment must successfully pass a drug test screening for marijuana (THC), cocaine, amphetamines (including methamphetamine and MDMA), opioids (including codeine, morphine, hydrocodone, hydromorphone, oxycodone, and oxymorphone), and phencyclidine (PCP) prior to beginning work. Employees are also subject to random drug and alcohol testing under FAA regulations throughout their employment.
  • Background Check:Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background check.
