Job summary

Caltech Space Radiation Laboratory (SRL) in Pasadena, CA seeks an Electronics Technician to support the engineering team in fabrication, assembly, and testing of electronic hardware for the NASA UVEX mission.

This hands-on role focuses on PCB assembly, test setup, and operation of prototype and flight electronics, with collaboration across cross-disciplinary teams in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1+ year hands-on experience in electronic assembly, soldering, inspection, cleaning, and repair.
• Soldering fine-pitch surface-mount components and PCB rework.
• Experience using test equipment (multimeters, scopes, power supplies).
• Ability to read schematics, wiring diagrams and assembly drawings.
• Work in a cleanroom and follow ESD/contamination controls.

Responsibilities

• Assemble and rework prototype, engineering, and flight PCBs and wire harnesses.
• Build and test electronic assemblies including chassis, boards, and cables.
• Procure supplies and maintain parts inventory.
• Coordinate with internal shops, vendors, and fabrication facilities.
• Develop test procedures and perform testing and measurements.
• Document designs, travelers, procedures, and results.
• Collaborate with cross‑disciplinary teams and work independently as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
