Job summary

Shield AI is seeking a Reliability Test Engineer to prepare, execute, and manage environmental tests on electronic flight hardware across VBAT and XBAT aircraft. This is a highly hands-on role, defining test plans, assembling fixtures, instrumenting hardware, and programming chambers.

You will own data collection, analyze failures, and produce clear reports to drive product quality and long-term reliability throughout the vehicles’ lifecycles.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of environmental testing experience including HALT/HASS.
• Self-starter with growth mindset and strong problem-solving skills.
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Reliability Engineering.
• Proficiency in CAD modeling using SpaceClaim/NX/SolidWorks.
• Knowledge of data acquisition equipment and instrumentation.
• Familiarity with electronics and moving assemblies; know failure mechanisms.
• Good written and oral communication; teamwork across disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Operate and improve the environmental test lab for electronics.
• Develop lab procedures for equipment use, data acquisition, and reporting.
• Perform reliability tests including thermal cycling, humidity soaks, HALT, HASS, vibration, and shock.
• Develop lab best practices and automate data acquisition.
• Manage procurement and maintenance of lab consumables and fixtures.
• Oversee maintenance, organization, and safety of equipment and work areas.
• Coordinate with external labs for additional environmental tests as needed.
• Educate stakeholders on test best practices to improve plans and design-for-test.
• Stay current with industry trends and standards in environmental testing.
