Job summary

Responsibilities

• Execute Flight Duty Officer and Operations Supervisor functions for daily flying activities.
• Coordinate crew-ready status with maintenance, scheduling, and operations.
• Confirm aircrew qualifications, currency, medical status and prerequisites.
• Prepare preflight checklists, Go/No-Go reviews, and mission documentation.
• Provide operations support during in-flight emergencies and mission changes.
• Maintain ARMS records and support SARM program requirements.

Position Overview

Sumaria Systems is seeking an experienced Flight Duty Officer to support daily flight operations and Squadron Aviation Resource Management (SARM) activities for U.S. Air Force operations in Palmdale, California. This position serves as a central coordination point among aircrew, maintenance, scheduling, and operations personnel to help ensure each mission is properly staffed, documented, and executed in accordance with applicable guidance.

The ideal candidate brings sound operational judgment, strong attention to detail, and the ability to remain composed in a fast-paced aviation environment.

Key Responsibilities

Execute Flight Duty Officer and Operations Supervisor functions in support of daily flying activities.

Coordinate crew-ready status with maintenance, scheduling, and operations personnel.

Confirm aircrew qualifications, currency, medical status, testing requirements, and other prerequisites before release for flight.

Complete and validate preflight checklists, Go/No-Go reviews, and required mission documentation.

Provide operations support during in-flight emergencies, irregular events, and mission changes.

Coordinate schedule revisions, mission deviations, and aircraft availability through established systems and processes.

Maintain Aviation Resource Management System (ARMS) records and support applicable SARM program requirements.

Track changes to governing instructions, policies, and procedures that affect flight operations or aviation resource management.

Prepare briefings and communicate operational or aviation resource management concerns to leadership.

Support inspections, self-assessments, audits, reporting, and corrective-action activities.

Maintain complete and accurate records in accordance with government, organizational, and contractual requirements.

Perform other mission-support duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Candidates must meet at least one of the following education and experience pathways:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and ten (10) years in the respective discipline being performed, including three (3) years supporting DoD operations; or

Fifteen (15) years of directly related experience, including five (5) years supporting DoD operations.

Prior relevant U.S. Air Force, DoD, or military aviation operations experience.

Experience supporting flight scheduling, aircrew operations, or aviation resource management activities.

Ability to perform effectively in a time-sensitive operational environment and manage competing priorities with accuracy.

Strong organizational, communication, judgment, and problem-solving skills.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Ability to obtain and maintain required system access and security credentials.

Security Clearance

A Secret security clearance is required. The selected candidate must be able to obtain and maintain the clearance and access requirements associated with the position.
