Job summary

Grid.aero, located onsite in San Leandro, CA, seeks a Software Architecture and Certification Engineer to own the architecture for flight and mission software on its autonomous aircraft and plan the certification approach.

You will define how software is partitioned, interfaced, and assured, keeping the solution lean for a small team to move quickly while working with GNC, avionics, and autonomy groups to ensure safe integration.

Qualifications

• Embedded or safety-critical software development experience.
• Familiarity with software certification processes.
• Experience with real-time systems or software partitioning.
• Knowledge of DO-178C or similar standards is preferred.
• Ability to work with cross-functional teams on certification activities.

Responsibilities

• Define the software architecture for flight-critical and mission software.
• Define partitioning and interfaces between flight-critical and non-critical software.
• Establish interfaces between all software and hardware elements at system level.
• Write and own the software development plan and certification approach.
• Set software assurance levels and the verification/validation strategy with the safety lead.
• Evaluate tools and methods, including formal methods, to reduce verification effort.
• Collaborate with GNC, avionics, and autonomy teams on interfaces and integration.
