Job summary

Contour is seeking a dedicated FAA Aircraft Dispatcher to support flight crew operations and preflight planning. You will ensure regulatory compliance, monitor flight progress, and coordinate with System Operations Control to maintain safety and efficiency.

The role requires strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving abilities, with efforts focused on on-time performance and safety in all operations.

Qualifications

  • FAA Aircraft Dispatcher Certificate is required.
  • Two years of dispatch experience preferred.
  • Must be able to obtain/maintain necessary clearances for FAA regulated operations.
  • Strong communication and leadership capabilities are essential.
  • Proven problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Support flight crew with operational control of flights and preflight planning in compliance with regulations.
  • Coordinate with System Operations Control to ensure safety-first flight operations.
  • Plan flights considering winds and weather for safety and economy.
  • Determine minimum fuel requirements and manage flight status information.
  • Provide pilots with preflight briefings and current weather reports.

Key Responsibilities
  • Responsible for supporting the flight crew members with operational control of flights and jointly responsible for the preflight planning and delay of flights in compliance with Federal Regulations and Contour Operations Specifications.
  • Work closely with other divisions within System Operations Control to ensure that flight crewmembers maintain the Company's mission of safety above all.
  • Plans flights considering the effects of enroute winds and weather, balancing safety, and economy.
  • Determines the minimum fuel supply necessary for the safe completion of the flight including any required alternate airports.
  • Provides pilot-in-command with preflight briefing including aircraft and flight status as well as providing all current reports or information on airport conditions and irregularities of navigation facilities and all available weather reports and forecasts for weather phenomena that may affect the safety of the flight.
  • Monitors the progress of each flight.
  • Issues necessary information for the safety of the flight.
  • Cancel a flight if the flight cannot operate or continue to operate safely as planned or released.
  • Responsible for rerouting or redirecting a flight based on economic considerations. This may include special routings, passenger convenience, and aircraft/flight crewmember utilization.
  • Recommend flight plan alternatives.
  • Coordinates aircraft diversions and recoveries.
  • Negotiates with air traffic control for alternative routes and reductions in air traffic control delays.
  • Provides operations expertise to the Maintenance Department and System Operations Control.
  • Monitors and processes data provided by flight crewmembers and stations.
  • Any other duty as assigned by management.
Qualifications
  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and good driving record.
  • Be authorized to work in the United States and able to travel in and out of the United States.
  • Able to pass a required 10-year work history review and submit to criminal history records check.
  • Must understand, read, and write English.
  • Possess polished and professional interpersonal skills with a positive attitude and a customer-oriented mindset.
  • Possess strong leadership, interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Must have well-developed people skills and ability to work with a variety of personalities.
  • Able to coordinate multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

  • FAA Aircraft Dispatcher Certificate required
  • A minimum of two (2) years’ dispatch experience is preferred.
  • Extensive familiarity with Federal Aviation Regulations, aeronautical charts, aviation weather, aircraft performance and flight planning
  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft products such as Office 365, Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint. Ability to utilize all available technology to create, edit and maintain all necessary information.
  • FOS Scheduling system knowledge preferred
  • Able to work nights, weekends, holidays, and varying schedules
